I include Learning Portals, LCMSs, as part of the mix. The e-commerce component itself includes a robust function set beyond just the ability to accept credit cards; and the look of the site typically appears as a “learning portal&# , clean, crisp and reminds me more of a web page with products (again, depending on the LMS vendor or system) with maybe advertising capabilities included. The product is Flash based, which is nice, but lack of mobile optimization for the iPad.

If they were doing it, Facebook like page, a crummy blog that looks nothing like a real blog, a Twitter like feed, maybe RSS, text chat and YouTube functions and upload/download angle. You could count on your hand the number of vendors even looking at it, and I’m not just talking LMSs/Learning Portals, but content authoring tools and other products. Vendors are adding more “comments&# and voting i.e. yes or no or thumbs up/thumbs down features.
