Wednesday, August 22, 2007 Half of Companies Blocking Facebook Christy Tucker has been musing on Social Networking as LMS: Problems and Opportunities. One real problem is corporate fear of social networking tools. Im no Facebook super-user and I havent experienced a huge time suck from it, but I suppose its possible.

Steven Groves in the comments writes: What the Gartner report went on to say that you left out was a recommendation to continue on in a SL effort anyway, albeit with eyes open and cautiously, keeping a lookout for all the problems they cited. Dont invest any money.

Im a touchy-feely-people-kind-of-person. My problem is I often forget to click the icon. Making the time to engage in conversations online does seem to move towards greater abundancy thinking and Im really enjoying the opportunities it is presenting. Ive reached out to more people and more people are reaching out to me.

Im sure it matters to them. However, i think with this type of learning becoming increasingly popular it will not be a problem. This issue may not matter to some organizations, but imagine an airline company maintenance department that has to report to the FAA. Thanks to Janet for bringing this issue up! This is a good point.
