I’ve seen a number of people asking about the Coursebuilder extensions that are installed to Dreamweaver CS4 in the Adobe eLearning Suite. Specifically, people have been trying to find out what is different between this version of Coursebuilder, and the version that was available a few years ago.
So I asked the Adobe engineers who have worked on this, and this is the response I got:-
The Course Builder in eLS has loads of new features, following is the list of new features added
3 new Interaction types
- Matching – Drag and drop, Combo box type.
- Sequence Interaction
- Likert Interaction
SCORM 1.2 and 2004 Compatibility
All the interactions support SCORM 1.2 and SCORM 2004 along with AICC. The selection can be made in the tracking tab. Based on the setting in the tracking tab, Actions in the action manager can be selected for tracking the score.Compatibility with Different Browsers
The New Course Builder supports the latest versions of Mozilla Firefox and Internet Explorer.New look and feel
The Interactions carry new icons and the Course Builder Wizard does not carry the legacy scroll bar.
So there you have it, from the horse’s mouth, so to speak.
Okay, I finally found a way to communicate…
I have bought this adobe elearning suite. I have Vista. I know…I hate it!!!! I want my XP back. Anyway…it is what it is.
I have the educators box. I have created a wonderful elearning gig for my 4th grade students. This is the problemo…. I keep on getting error messages for the txt to speech.
So I went to Adobe and got your …
Resolving the, “unable to decode and import the selected wav – mp3 file” error
This error might be displayed when you are using Adobe Captivate on Windows Vista. You must register the Adobe DLL to fix this error.
Close Adobe Captivate.
Run Command Prompt in the admin mode.
Enter the location of the directory where you have installed Adobe Captivate.
Run regsvr32 NSAudio.dll. The message, “Registration of DLL successful” is displayed.
Right-click Adobe Captivate in the Program Files menu, and select Run As Administrator.
What I need from you is a captivate video on how to do this….
I went through the “unable to decode and import the selected wav/mp3 file” error. After talking with an Adobe Rep and seeing your directions…(above and below this comment), I quickly realized that I could NOT use the directions. I have no experience in using Command Prompts. I have written down the directions by key stroke for those people that are similar to me. Enjoy! 🙂
For Vista and Win7,
Click on the circle start menu,
In the search box, type in command and in the generated list, “right-click” on the comman link and change to “run as administrator”.
Go back to the search box, type in command and hit enter. This will take you to the command prompt window (black window w/ white text) lol
You have to get to the right directory first.
Type: cd (space) .. (hit enter)
Type: cd (space) .. (hit enter)
If Captivate is installed on Program Files (x86) —
Type: cd (space) progra~2 (hit enter)a
If Captivate is installed on Program Files
Type: cd (space) progra~1 (hit enter)
Type: cd (space) Adobe (hit enter)
Type: cd (space) Adobe (space) Captivate (space) 4 (hit enter)
Type: regsvr32 (space) NSAudio.dll (hit enter)
If you get an error at any point, re-key that particular line.
Once you see that the last line of command went through, open up Captivate and test the Text to Speech. These instructions fixed both computers I was working on!!!!
Hi Sarah – shame that you don’t like Vista – I used it for years and find it S) much more usable than XP. Trouble is, we are always befuddled when things change and get moved around.
I think that there may be an easier way for you to fix the audio issue. I *think* that the Captivate 4.01 update addresses the issue. You can install it by invoking the Adobe Updater.
Open Captivate 4, then select Help > Updates.
You will probably find that once the updater runs it will also want to install additional uptades (e.g. PhotoShop, or Bridge or whatever). You can choose to only install the Captivate update if you don’t have time/patience to install all the updates right now.
Once the Captivate 4 update has installed, try out the Text To Speech again. It should be fixed. If not, we can work out how to fox it for you.
I’ve uploaded the updates and it still will not work.
The covert to speech with asterisk box I can check. Then I pick Kate as my speaker. Then an error message pops up:
Unable to decode and import the selected wav/mp3 file
I just recreated the ppt and recorded sound in the presentation and even when I imported the ppt via captivate it gave me the same error messagse about the mp3 and wav files.
Hi guys,
I had the same error and lost 5hrs of my day b/c I didn’t know how to troubleshoot the directions you all listed above. Please, please, please when you provide tech info to the less tech savvy folks like me; add the line of code that might help!
1. Click the Start menu / button / icon
2. Search for Command Prompt little black box appears
3. RIGHT mouse click and choose “run as administrator”
4. Type the following: cd/
5. Hit the enter key (this got me back to C:\>) and from here I had to add:
6. C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Captivate 4>regsvr32 NSAudio.dll
7. Hit the enter key
8. It works!
Now if I could just get back the 5hrs I spend on this crap!
