Most learning professionals view social media as valuable to learners, and usage is growing.

However, go to any training conference, including ASTD’s own International Conference and Exhibition, and you don’t hear much about instructor-led training or self-paced learning. Training is not the same as learning. Real learning takes place elsewhere. Workers are disgruntled. Managers feel training has scant impact.
