Groupings seem like a good idea but feel free to say this is a bad idea, and I’m okay with that. When they went course aggregator, I saw them as a nice alternative to Skillsoft who was off acquiring other course providers including NetG and then down the road, Element K. Or a few free tickets to Disneyland.

What you need 2 know: 3rd Party Content

You can find free content all over the internet and you can purchase 3rd party content from a content provider. And not only do they provide the “course marketplace or content marketplace”, but they are adding content for free, to when you buy the LMS or other type of learning system. Who remembers NetG?

If a customer purchased your courses (regardless of if free or not), you had the data to see where they were going, which aided in whether you needed to create more courses, similar subject, assuming multiples were going to the same, or not. NetG ruined them). Next, Taleo bought them.

Skillsoft – An Analyst Perspective

Once you buy the content, Skillsoft will give you Percipio for free. Albeit, there were salespeople on the SumTotal side who actually sold Percipio (not from the buy content you get it free angle, either). . Well you are fortuitous because it only requires you to purchase some content from the Skillsoft library. That’s it.

I should add, that there are plenty out there, these four just stood out for me (feel free to list those you feel deserve it – but sorry, Instructure was not a trailblazer – good system initially, ideal for EdTech, but the Bridge LMS – go corporate system) decision was a strategic blunder. There are 3rd party providers out there who will tell you that no one (as in other 3rd party providers) will load courses for free. You buy the courses via a 3rd party provider who loads the courses into your LMS for free. Scenario #1.
