On the customer side, if you are the client of said “been acquired” vendor you may be asking yourself, what can I do? From my experience, vendors do have some options. See if there any loopholes.

Not every vendor offered them, but more than enough did and consumers liked that. In the good ol’ days vendors listed trials on their web sites OR if you liked what you saw in the demo, you asked them via the phone or e-mail for a trial. For the vendor, it was a potential win, way better than no one reaching out to them at all.

Never assume that they know the terminology in the industry, nor assume that what you think one term means, doesn’t necessarily mean what the vendor thinks it means. In the Enterprise and Large Enterprise it is not uncommon to get pricing that is quite high, especially if the vendor knows procurement is involved.
