Gamification – Move over Tin Can API, the GAMIFICATION clan is here to rule. If you do not have gamification in your LMS, get going. Time is a wasting and don’t say, “I am going to see how this play’s out”, because while you are waiting, your competitors will be moving on to new and fun gamification components! No surprise that some vendors are also waiting to see what happens.

It was an exciting first day, with lots of vendors hitting the entire training spectrum. Here are my favorites: Numerous vendors were unhappy that they had to pay $700 a day for Wi-Fi, that didn’t work most of the time or was slow. One vendor who spent $5,000 on their booth, thought the $700 a day fee was obscene and declined. Other vendors weren’t so lucky. This year there are more e-learning vendors than in the past.

For 2017, Halloween edition of Tricks and Treats, Voodoo has reached into his bag of toys, and removed the ones he sees as “treats for 2017” He will keep those on the side for later. Growth Engineering – Gamification never looked so good or so crisp. Built-in authoring tools – More vendors are including them into their systems. Skillsoft Percepio and other vendors who rush out systems not yet ready for prime time. This is Voodoo.

M-Learning – Unless vendor specifies it only means that you can view their platform via a mobile device (browser). Gamification – Gaming elements used online. Does not mean games nor the ILT approach of gamification. Vendors get it. A vendor who does “no contract” ever well, that is sometimes a ploy, so pay attention. They (vendor) knows the likelihood that you will bolt after one year is quite low. Finally.

This brings me back to this post, because learning what features are in “vogue” and what is on the mind of many vendors, is fun to know. Shows you where/what vendors are thinking in terms of features. Provides insight into how some vendors view the LMS space. True, you could do this with a few vendors, but now you can do with it with many, many more. There are vendors who have several widget options, others have a much larger list and yep, many have zero.
