The Average Joe imperative

E-Learning Provocateur

I was so impressed with the technology – and amazed at its availability for free! The moral of the story is deeper than the Gartner hype cycle. I predict a similar fate for other emerging technologies, be it Tin Can, augmented reality, responsive e-learning, or whatever else lay on the horizon. There once was a time when I thought Second Life was going to take over the world. Well, the virtual world.

Learning Analytics: Big Demand, But Bigger Challenges?

Talented Learning

The answer seems at least partially linked to a lack of sophisticated technology. Organizations need individuals who know how to use learning management systems (LMS), learning record stores (LRS) and Experience API (xAPI) , in concert with business intelligence (BI) and data visualization tools such as Tableau , Domo , Google Analytics , Microsoft Power BI , SAP Analytics Cloud or Sisense.

Discover some extracts of the article: “However, help may finally be at hand in the form of the Learning Experience Platform (LXP), originally defined by workplace learning expert Josh Bersin and recently formalised as a new market category by Gartner.” So let’s seize the chance that the powerful combination of the LXP and the xAPI offers – and make workplace training and development the truly strategic business tool we all know it deserves to be.

2016 eLearning Hype Curve Predictions

Web Courseworks

This year, we are placing our annual (and very popular) learning technology predictions on the the hype cycle. Our 2016 eLearning predictions set in terms of Gartner’s hype cycle. Online learning lags behind other industries in adopting new technologies. This is not because people in online learning are not interested in new technologies; it’s because we’re not a high-revenue industry compared to giant industries like consumer goods. In xAPI’s favor, the U.S.

2019 eLearning Predictions – Hype Curve

Web Courseworks

The Gartner Hype Cycle is the underlying theory of this project. The hype cycle theory holds that new concepts and technologies are initially little known, and thus little discussed, when they emerge from their Innovation Trigger – the point at which someone dreams them up, and only a small group of cognoscenti knows of them. The concept or technology descends into the next stage of the hype cycle: the Trough of Disillusionment.

One on One with Jonathan Satchell, CEO, LTG (EXCLUSIVE)

eLearning 24-7

For our debut post, I met with Jonathan Satchell, CEO of the Learning Technologies Group (companies they own include LEO, Rustici, Gomo, Watershed LRS, PeopleFluent, Eukleia, PRELOADED, Vector VMS) to ask questions about LTG and the space in general. What I can say is that CMI-5 expresses learner activity using xAPI, which gives systems a consistent way to express the things people do. There are some learning system vendors though, who are xAPI only and offer nothing else.

Understanding Dominant LMS Trends: What Can We Do To Align LMSs To Learning?

G-Cube

According to a recent research paper published by Gartner titled ‘IT Market Clock for Human Capital Management Software, 2015’, the market for learning management solutions is mature and highly commoditized. Outdated Look and Feel: Modern users are not technology challenged and want to experience the best of technology in learning as well.

Why Training Is an Under-Used Source of Employee Insight

Coorpacademy

That was because the dominant training technology we’ve been using – the Learning Management System (LMS) – managed access and tracked participation of learners, namely the attendee list and the scheduling of trainer time, but little else. What’s changed in this picture is the debut of a much more flexible and useful L&D technology tool – new-style Learning Experience Platforms (LEPs), as recently formalised as a separate market category by Gartner.

Back Again + Captivate 8 Review (Summary: WOW!)

mLearning Trends

Upon initial review, Adobe Captivate 8 is well positioned as a key technology for heralding in a new era of “mobile first” capabilities and attitudes that can accelerate change and ultimately transform a mobile learning landscape that has plodded along for years. And I think The Gartner Group should rethink that 10-year adoption landscape Allen referred to in his original posting too.
