Product Review: GeoLearning GeoMaestro

eLearning 24-7

GeoLearning’s GeoMaestro is a LMS that packs a wallop but at the same time has some features that provide limitations. While the solution delivers more than enough for a LMS and the company gets “it&# for where the industry needs to go, GeoLearning has made some interesting decisions with GeoMaestro that to say the least is bewildering. It is truly amazing on how vendors seem to think lots of stuff on the page, is the way to go and navigation is just a requirement.

#HRTECH Learning Vendors Preview – Who to see and who to avoid

eLearning 24-7

Well, not yet, but it is coming up and with that are all those wonderful vendors and that magical expo. But one of the biggest problems I see at such shows are the number of vendors who in hindsight I wished I avoided. I recall at ATD this past year, a vendor who was trying to sell people ahead of time their LMS. And, because many of the other vendors who are here at HR Tech, really are just average to poor (but not everyone). Welcome, welcome all!

My latest take on those three vendors (plus one) are: Cornerstone On Demand – I have seen the new UI and I like what I saw. On the Maestro side (formally GeoLearning), I don’t understand how they could have dropped the ball on the platform. They also have a lot of partnerships with LMS vendors – so that adds to an additional distribution channel. . This is why, you see some vendors doing quite well and others who are not.

The Augmented LMS: New Life for Talent Management Learning?

Talented Learning

Old-school LMS companies (like SumTotal , Plateau , Learn.com , GeoLearning and Certpoint ) were acquired by much larger talent and HR-suite providers like SAP/SuccessFactors , Infor , Oracle and IBM. PENS – Why your LMS and Authoring Tool Solution should include it

eLearning 24-7

In the past year, I have seen a wider number of vendors including the PENS course standard, which in my opinion, enables anyone who builds courses, a streamlined and fast process for publishing into a LMS/learning platform. After getting my PhD in Educational/Counseling psychology I went to work for a small startup, GeoLearning. Unfortunately PENS, to my knowledge, was only implemented in one desktop authoring tool, and it mysteriously vanished in the vendor’s next upgrade.
