As a vendor said to me, a few weeks ago, they see more and more people just uploading content, all types of content, not necessarily courses built by 3rd party authoring tools. Vendors push it still for learning and training. It really makes no sense on why vendors still do this. Thus, if I know it takes SCORM 1.2,

Per Host – My number #1 vendor goes this route, but they and a few others push ultimate options with a minimum number of hosts and I’m not even talking Enterprise yet. I say, “ABOUT TIME” Most common are Box.com, Dropbox, Google Drive. With most vendors showing their mobile items using a smartphone.

The bottom line without getting technical or overly detailed, the solution is hosted on your vendor’s servers and not hosted on your internal servers. With a hosted solution, the vendor’s servers are able to tested to withstand scenarios like this. LMSs and their client list. Ask for references is a waste of time.

For the rest of us, it isn’t, unless you see the latest takeaways as examples of what is to come or more importantly what hasn’t – which is really a could be doomsday to many vendors – unless they wake up! In my newest directory, I have 138 vendors. 4 desktop authoring tool vendors work with Windows 8.

I have a real issue with vendors who charge extra – via a license with their “partner&# or otherwise for a web conferencing – and thus ability to offer webinars, in their solution. Open Meetings - based on Google code. BigBluebutton - based on Google Code, targets academia, specifically higher education.

The spin is that you can accrue points by reading an article, taking a course, leaving comments, ranking content, completing an assessment and so on – varies among vendors. For some reason a lot of vendors, erroreously assume that modules is widely used – it isn’t. Gaming Elements. Jargon has become universal in 2014.

You work online via the servers of your vendor. I had thought that this trend would be dying out, but it is amazing at the number of vendors who are entering the space and still focused on the desktop approach. Google Docs – ever heard of em? Remember when only a few offered the PPT to Flash option in their tools?
