EXLEARN 2022 Recap

The 2022 EXLEARN Conference was something special. Coming back together in person at the Great American Ball Park and connecting with each other was a home run!

It’s not every day that you get to step into a Major League Baseball batting cage and take a few swings from a professional pitcher; hear heartfelt and inspiring messages from leaders like Kroger CHRO, Tim Massa; celebrate BIPOC leaders in the learning and performance space who are creating healthier, higher-performing organizations; chill out with therapy animals like George, the giant Flemish rabbit; and learn how to craft a world-class learning experience all while crafting your own charcuterie board.

At EXLEARN 2022, that’s exactly what we did! Let’s just say that EXLEARN isn’t your typical work conference—it’s packed with learning and lots of fun too. It’s an unforgettable experience and one that attendees come back to again and again.

The Experience

What set this experience apart were the hands-on opportunities that engaged attendees’ different senses (smell, taste, and sight) to help them think differently about how they design experiences at their organizations. It was all about keeping the whole human front and center. Human-centered, organization-oriented performance design can help our employees build skills, increase adaptability, develop deeper relationships, and ultimately, reach their full potential.

Who Attended

Leaders throughout the Learning & Performance space engaged in EXLEARN 2022. Participants joined from a variety of companies and industries, including Chick-fil-A, Delta Airlines, Eli Lilly, Fifth Third Bank, Fischer Homes, Kroger, Macy’s, Procter & Gamble, and Sony Pictures.

The Game-Changers

The 2022 speakers (“game-changers”) were next-level. At the end of each session, they provided actionable steps participants could take to achieve better results. Keynote speakers Siri Lindley, Tim Massa, and Dustin Shell talked about The Power of Mindset, Transformation at Scale, and Leadership Practices to Increase Team Security and Trust. TiER1’s Will Thalheimer led a discussion on how his LTEM model equips leaders to improve learning transfer. Kirsten Moorefield shared how her company Cloverleaf is helping organizations “unleash people to do their best work.” TiER1ers Ramsey Ford and Nick Jackman demonstrated how a fresh beginner mindset could be the winning play for solving your next big challenge.

Local Partners

We couldn’t have hosted this experience without help from local partners. The following list of wonderful folks helped make EXLEARN 2022 such an impactful event:

Giving Back

During EXLEARN attendees helped donate $9,125 to The Brighton Center, a Cincinnati-based organization that creates opportunities for individuals and families to reach self-sufficiency through family support services, education, employment, and leadership. Giving back is such an integral part of TiER1’s culture and we’re thankful to have a network that cares about it just as much as we do. To learn more about The Brighton Center, donate, or find volunteer opportunities, you can visit their website here.

EXLEARN is truly a one-of-a-kind experience, but don’t just take our word for it. Here’s what 2022 attendees said:

TiER1 Performance

TiER1’s mission is to improve organizations through the performance of people to build a better world. We wake up every morning ready to tackle big challenges, so that more people can do the amazing work they are meant to do. When they contribute more, stretch their talents, and free themselves of workplace limits, a remarkable thing happens—they become happier and more fulfilled. And that means they reduce stress, create healthier relationships, and simply find more joy. Every day we’re in business, we really are building a better world. Our purpose is to help people do their best work—that’s the lens we wear every day. As an employee-owned firm, we apply that to our client organizations, their people, and ourselves. And to do that, we embrace our core values: High Performance, Relationships, Initiative, Accountability, Value, AND Fun.
