Playbar on HTML project disappears when window is maximized

I have a simple HTML project. It starts in a new window  with everything working fine. When maximized, the playbar disappears.

Though the playbar disappears, the area where the playbar should be is still active. Click in the right place where the playbar buttons should be and the action still occurs- next, back, etc.

If you click and drag the corner of the initial window before maximizing, as the window increases in size, it reaches a point where the playbar disappears. Again, the area where the buttons should be is still still works.

This happens on multiple computers only in the Chrome browser. The playbar doesn’t disappear in IE11, Edge, Firefox or Safari.

Any assistance will be appreciated. The Captivate playbars work fine for me in every other way and I don’t have a need to create custom play controls except this problem in Chrome.

Thanks!!

K

Thanks so much for your help. I still don’t know how I posted this question two places. I don’t even know what Jive is…

But this person, jensaintonge.wordpress.com, answered on the Jive forum and provided a blogpost that totally fixed the problem I was having. The url is below.

Hmmm, I try to post another response but it doesn’t appear, perhaps because I am linking to a solution found on an outside blog and the post has to be approved? Unsure, maybe I am driving the moderators crazy trying to post multiple times. Sorry if so. Anyway, there is another, older thread discussing this here with the title of ‘Playbar Disappears if HTML5 Content is Scaled too Much’ and there is a newer comment marked March 12 at the bottom with a solution (on the blog mentioned)

Ah, this was also discussed on a much older post.  Someone just recently posted what seems like a good solution on her blog here.

Wait, yes, I see this too!  When the window is maximized, the playbar disappears… but the place it should be is still ‘active’ and the next/play/pause still works if I click in the right spot where it should be.When the window is not maximized, the playbar appears and works just fine. I see this in Chrome but not Edge or IE.I also notice this issue does NOT appear when going Preview>HTML 5 in browser. It only seems to happen when I’ve published out of Captivate as HTML. Hmmm….I notice the issue goes away when I deselect ‘Playbar Overlay’ in the Skin editor, but this breaks the visual design of my project, so is not a great solution this time for me.That’s as far as I’ve gotten and will keep playing with it.  kaitlinp26382390 your post is from 2 weeks ago, I wonder what you decided to do? In any case I am grateful for your post, I thought I was going crazy checking different things and couldn’t figure it out. I would not have thought of resizing the window and am glad to have narrowed it down that far at least. I too use chrome all the time and don’t remember running into this one before, it’s odd to be sure.

Hi –

I’m responding in case you didn’t see the response I posted the main thread.

This wonderful person Jen posted an amazing solution. My users have reported back that they haven’t encountered any problems with the playbar.

You posted this also on the Jive forums. No answer mostly means that this a very strange situation, no one else had that experience. I use Chrome all the time.

Which playbar did you use?
