SWF in Browser works as well. If anyone has an idea, why this could be an issue, please reply! Since that change my preview in HTML wont work anymore, I just get this icon indefinitely and it wont load any further. However the “standard” preview still works fine. Previewing other projects in HTML works fine.

Flash is the most popular output type, so it’s likely that your courses are SWF Flash-based. SWF courses do not work on certain devices; Apple devices. “I’ll do it later” Bad idea. Don’t create any more course content that is Flash SWF based. This output format does have one major drawback.

I tried publishing as HTML5 only and also as a HTML5/SWF hybrid… nope. Does anyone have any other troubleshooting ideas for me? It looks like I can’t embed a.wmv file. It was originally created in a template file and I moved it to a blank file and republished… nope. Thanks for any help you can offer!

You are probably aware of the fact that Text animations are SWF-based and cannot be used for HTML5 output. The While loop combined with a multistate text object was another idea. Have no idea what your typing speed is . Several users have been asking for an alternative. You could use JS as well. Did I use audio? Moving Masks.

Beware: the embedded movie is a SWF, you need a browser with enabled Flash Player to watch that movie. Everything worked fine for SWF output also in later versions. One of my most visited blog posts published 7 years ago (Captivate 5, 5.5) is Where is Null? However it is now partially broken for HTML output in CP9 and CP2017.

Guide layers allow you to put instructional text that won’t appear in the published swf file. I hope this gives you some ideas to make interactive Flash templates a bit more user-friendly. Then right-click on the layer title and choose guide. Notice that the layer icon changes to a hammer. Lock Layers. Don’t import bitmaps.

While I didn’t enjoy working with limited resources, I will say that some of my best ideas and learning experiences came from this environment. I like to brainstorm with them some ideas and then build quick prototypes to test them out. Publish the course and go into the data folder and locate the background swf file.

I first thought this to be a limitation of HTML5 (first article was for SWF output) and tested it out. Some cleaning at the start of 2019 may be a good idea. Today a question appeared on the forums about the InBuilt states Rollover/Down not showing the value of the variable when using Preview HTML5 in Browser, nor when published.

It is much easier just to edit an old text than to explore all new features in depth. At that moment FMR-slides (Full Motion Recording) are created.

Any ideas on how to troubleshoot? However, when I upload the published file to our server and try to access via browser, I just get a spinning icon. This only happens about half the time, even though the settings for the files that are working correctly appear to be identical.

When you publish the course, the slide with the audio, images, and animations is converted to a Flash movie file (.swf). In a future post, I’ll give away some pre-built animations.
