Cammy Beans Learning Visions: When the Content is Really Boring.

Learning Visions

But what do you do when the content itself is just plain boring? Dont teach the learner what they already know. wait, Im getting verbose. What do you do when youre handed a pile of content that makes you want to roll over and die of boredom? With any luck, the client has a reason why the learner needs to know the boring stuff. Cammy Beans Learning Visions: Getting to Good Enough

Learning Visions

" This adage works for me most of the time as Im designing eLearning courses. Right now, Im feeling like just getting to good would be an achievement. Client demands, project schedules -- sometimes all you can do is churn it out. Right now, Im proofing a storyboard thats full of endless text bullets and boring software demos with no interactivity -- and theres really nothing I can do about it. What would you do if you were me? Just do it.

Cammy Beans Learning Visions: The Big Question: Instructional Design as a Spectrum

Learning Visions

Of course, there may be and there are many variations in the quality of instruction that result. But one could argue that some SMEs may and do have a natural flair for the art of instructional design ( Rupas post on ID as art ; Donald Clarks post ). Im wondering if we should be talking about tiers of instructional design. Theres the old joke about medical school, "What do you call someone whos last in his class at medical school? What other types of interests do you serve?

There seems to be a mix between contract and full time positions, and Im not sure how to read into that. I dont know how to interpret this, nor are my findings indicative of any official status in IDs. The eLearning Salary Gender Gap Phew!
