Open Source Authoring Tools for e-Learning

eFront

eFront News from the e-learning frontier 10/17/2010 Open Source Authoring Tools for e-Learning As an e-Learning consultant I always was fun of open source software. In this post I am not going to talk about open source learning management systems such as eFront [1] but rather dedicated open source "authoring tools". I highly encourage you to leave a commend if you know any other open source authoring tool.

e-Clippings (Learning As Art): Anybody Out There Attend AERA?

Mark Oehlert

Ive always wanted to attend the American Education Research Associations annual meeting but have always either missed it timing wise or just been a little over-awed - have you seen the program ? To me, I think that Im more comfortable talking about the bunker mentality of some folks in our industry versus the ivory tower. We are plainly witnessing a restructuring of the music and newspaper businesses, but their suffering isn’t unique, it’s prophetic."--Clay

Cammy Beans Learning Visions: The Auditory Advantage

Learning Visions

Here are a few things that I’ve tried in the last couple of years that I’ve pinched directly from my years in front of the Playstation: The use of music to change emotional state; to bypass conscious processing of information. The use of music in e-Learning? But Im always in search of practical advice. Whos really used music in e-Learning to good effect? Because face it -- music, if incorporated poorly, can be so darn cheesy. Music?

I will say that I think that Linda David and Pat Byers did amazing work on the program and they (along with my fellow committee members) deserve great credit. The program is also packed and the printed version could be used as a heck of a doorstop - this is something that also concerns me - I wonder what conferences can do to start looking at ways to do some serious carbon offsetting , something to chew through fewer trees and so forth.it

Great FREE Software Downloads

It works on all platforms and is probably the most popular free audio program around. It creates data backups, video DVDs and music CDs. Open Office. I keep hearing good things about Open Office. To create a.pdf, just use the print command from the source program that the file was created in. Some say this email program from Mozilla is better than Outlook Express. It’s open source software, yet actually has some Help documentation.

Cammy Beans Learning Visions: Instructional Designers: Do You Have a Degree in ID?

Learning Visions

Im curious what other folks experiences has been. Even though my degree is in music education, my experience has been more relevant. Im so happy to see you post this up. Im struggling with this right now. How do you finish a program that isnt there? Im not on to trying to source another college or university to try out. Any advice on a great school/program would be greatly appreciated by myself. In the meantime, the survey is still open.

Cammy Beans Learning Visions: Audio in eLearning: Cultural Differences?

Learning Visions

As Im ramping up in my new job, Im talking with my new Kineo colleagues about everything under the sun. Is there some historical background here that Im missing, like computers in the UK didnt have speakers until 2002 so they never bothered? The most culturally appropriate use of audio is in the teaching of languages and music, and in social studies. Cammy Beans Learning Visions: Audio in eLearning: When Rough Around the Edges is Better

Learning Visions

Im not sure if the SME was reading a script, reading the notes, or just speaking from the heart. They are part of a network I am associated with and they do a FANTASTIC job with audio, narration, music, etc. I can't agree more about strategic and even (sometimes) liberal use of SME's in various programs.
