An Introduction to LTI

The LTI standard was first released in 2010 replacing the outdated Shareable Content Object Reference Model (SCORM) standard. CourseArc is a member of IMS Global and uses LTI to integrate our product with any LTI-compliant LMS.

Comparing Video Hosting, Transcribing, and Captioning Tools

Although it’s considered the industry standard for web video, YouTube also has some user experience and accessibility challenges that can complicate the inclusion of their media in your online course.

The ongoing work of learning standards

At the dawn of the video recording age, a battle raged about the best standard to use: VHS or Betamax. In it, Sony came out with a better standard, but kept it to themselves. Meanwhile, JVC’s VHS standard wasn’t quite as good, but they openly licensed it. Learning Standards.

Standards and success

Clark Quinn

Apparently, Google has recently opined that the future of mobile is web standards. I’ve been reflecting on the benefits that standards have provided. What worked for networks was the standardization on TCP/IP as a protocol for packet transmission. What worked for email was standardization on the SMTP protocol. HTTP standardization has been good for the web, where it’s been implemented properly! But it’s having standards that matters.

Reaction to IMS Learning Impact 2012 Conference

We may have all been drinking the same cool-aid, but at the IMS Global Learning Consortium Learning Impact Conference in Toronto, there was a meeting of the minds. The IMS is at the cutting edge of web 2.0 Give a student an assessment to measure their level of competency relative to an educational standard (like common core), then use this information to create an individualized learning plan matched to the learners needs and learning style preferences.

Q&A - eLearning Standards Especially SCORM

Tony Karrer

You want to implement your courseware to the SCORM standard if you plan to have it launched and/or tracked under an LMS. SCORM is a fairly easy standard to deal with especially since most people are fine with a single SCO that does only single score/completion reporting. What about other Standards? There are a bunch of other standards by ADL (who is responsible for SCORM ), IMS , IEEE LTSC including CORDRAâ„¢ , LOM , Meta-data , etc.

Suggestions for max audio file size in a project for html streaming?

Adobe Captivate

Hi, Are there any standard suggestions for max file sizes for html5 projects? I have a lot of audio in my project and Im not sure if I will have loading issues. My end user will be streaming on a moderately high speed connection (colleges across the US). I have around 40 mp3 files totaling around 40 MB. Does all assets load before the project will begin to play or is it some sort of progressive streaming? Thanks in advance for your advice. best, Todd.
