Hike: How Free Offline Messaging Works

Origin Learning

With the coming of affordable 2G and 3G networks for mobiles , it is like we have been hardwired to Instant Messaging (IM) on our phones. In fact, IM applications have evolved to provide much more than simple text-and-emoticon messaging. There is hardly any other free messaging app that brings traditional SMS and IM under one roof. First of all, like regular IM apps, Hike to Hike messaging happens over an internet connection.

Why an LMS Needs Learning Tools Interoperability (LTI) Functionality

TOPYX LMS

This may sound like small potatoes, but to a busy employee it is significant and will make the difference between an LMS being utilized regularly or not. IMS Global Learning Consortium says, ‘When vendors take advantage of a common approach to interoperability, such as LTI, integrations can be completed considerably faster and at a much lower cost.’

e-Clippings (Learning As Art): Open Laszlo: Open Source Webtop Platform

Mark Oehlert

I havent gone very far but I like the sound of this: " OpenLaszlo programs are written in XML and JavaScript and transparently compiled to Flash and, with OpenLaszlo 4, DHTML.The OpenLaszlo APIs provide animation, layout, data binding, servercommunication, and declarative UI. " Im just wondering about the viability of this platform to compete against something like Netvibes and Pageflakes.

Benefits of Custom E-Learning Modules

ICDTranslation

A chatbot is also referred to as a talkbot, chatterbot, Bot, IM bot, interactive agent, or Artificial Conversational Entity. Further customization is achieved by localization of the content so that it sounds better and closer to a particular linguistic group, for example. E-learning has become an important part of the corporate life in many businesses. It helps train new and current employees and enhances productivity and retention.

Assistive Technology: Creating new possibilities for Differently Abled Learners

So be it learning material in Word or PDF, discussions on a forum or even emails or IMs – with text-to-speech converters, learners can access it all. Sound amplification tools heighten the audio element of the learning content. Other alerting tools use flashing lights or icons to signal users instead of the usual sounds – to catch the focus of the hearing impaired learners. Technology has changed the way learning is created and consumed in the 21 st century.

Cammy Beans Learning Visions: All The Worlds A-Twitter

Like Tracy Hamilton , Im enjoying the endless thought streams. Im having fun hearing the stream of peoples activities and thoughts ("ambient intimacy"), but is that all there is to it? I know people consolidate and slim down ( Brent , for instance), but Im not sure Im ready for that challenge. Im cammybean on Twitter. Im aware that SOMEONE is fighing a cold, but cant always remember who that was. Im still not sure how it fits me.

Cammy Beans Learning Visions: Jott This Blog

Learning Visions

Tuesday, March 25, 2008 Jott This Blog I havent had so much time lately to blog, as this project Im working on has been quite grueling. I find my best time for thinking up excellent blog entries is late at night when Im lying in bed. That is, of course, if Im even awake after the kids have finally fallen asleep. Now Im trying to maximize my time on the drive to work. Things Im learning: I have to talk much more slowly. Otherwise Jott doesnt get what Im saying.

Sigh.will someone in Learning/Training Field Just Please Rip This Off?

Mark Oehlert

Look to where your people are already using tools, maybe as pedestrian as IM. A corporate chatbot, chiling as that may sound at first blush, could be a natural and non-threatening way for people to interact with a ton of information. OK so seriously. We've stopped using Learning Objects right? Cause they're about as real as mean unicorns. Now, as an industry, let's get into some serious theft. Saw this article in TechCrunch , about Google firing up chatbots again. .

Me: Im an instructional designer. Im sort of distracted by the naked boy who just ran by (not mine). Instructional Designer just sounds too vague/technical. billbrandon had this comment on Twitter: I usually just tell em Im a writer. Cammy Beans Learning Visions: Instructional Design and Market Sector Differences

Learning Visions

Based on comments, it sounds like an advanced degree is a requirement more so if youre working in the academic sector. Im guessing youre designing online distance learning courses. Im in the weird place of for-profit education, which really has characteristics of both market sectors. Having just a bachelors degree seems to be fine as long as you arent working directly for the universities (Im not sure about K-12 online).
