Informal learning in organizations is finally being recognized as a key aspect of employee development and performance improvement. But how do you evaluate something that is as unpredictable and serendipitous as informal learning? Learning occurs in "informal" (another term that I don’t like but is gaining traction) settings and online, as well as in the classroom. Managers could follow these results for the purpose of assessing impact of team learning.

Every time we buy a new piece of technology, be it a smartphone, a TV or a blender, we need to learn how to use it. Adult learning is very much connected to need and usefulness and as a result it’s paramount for instructional designers to prove the importance of any material they present and allow for learners to go about finding what they think is of educational value at a certain point.
