There was a low-key section on eLearning mentioning SCORM compliance in the RFP and that was about it! They may or may not be thinking of eLearning (primarily referring to online training modules, assessments, and even social/informal learning) at this stage. However as an LMS provider I would want the customers to be able to use the LMS for more than just managing classroom training, specially the power of informal/social learning through the LMS!

I teach a class called “Managing Multimedia Projects” in that class students are given an RFP for an e-learning based proposal and they have to develop a solution. The first team was White Paw Learning Solutions with team members - Scott Paull, Travis Kline, Ryan Reilly and Lauren Ferrett. In addition, members will utilize formal and informal learning modules.

This is not to argue that all control is bad or that learning can not occur with external controls present but that we should at least be a bit more open about what we are about. I think that what we do has to shift into helping individual learners and organizations figure out how to learn themselves.
