Event By now you've probably already heard that the Microsoft Life Sciences Innovation Award 2010 has gone to a project that uses a 3-D virtual environment to hold a virtual scientific poster session. Results measured after the poster session demonstrated that the virtual environment was effective for scientific meetings and was well accepted by the current generation of scientists, suggesting that these environments can be used to deliver immediate value.

Philadelphia ASTD Meeting Lot of Fun

The planning for the meeting started some time ago and the innovative learning in 3D folks practiced what we preached and had our planning meetings in 3D virtual spaces. The meeting was well attended by a large number of ASTD members, some wanted see what the hype was about, some had plans to work with clients in 3D virtual worlds and some were just curious. Greater Philadelphia ASTD members learn about 3D collaboration and learning in virtual worlds.

Digitell is company that owns VirtualU a 3D virtual immersive environment that has been used for everything from meetings to rock concerts. As announced first on this blog, ProtonMedia announced a strategic partnership with RWD on heals of another announcement of a strategic partnership with Kaplan-EduNeering. I think these two activities signal a real "serious" look at moving 3D virtual immersive environments into organizations at the enterprise level.
