For some people, creating a RFP can be an exciting experience unmatched in the annuals of time. When people need a RFP, they think “Internet&#. After receiving the vendor RFP responses and confirming we were only evaluating highly qualified partner options, we invited the four vendors in each opportunity onsite to present their company and solution. Some similar LMS demo “don’ts” that I can’t believe I have to define include: Don’t forget to comb your hair, iron your clothes and shine your shoes before going on a client site. Slow guest internet, short VGA cables or grainy projectors are only obstacles for rookies.

Or they send the RFP after a discussion, but before seeing the product. Nowadays it is easy to just send off that RFP without doing any due diligence. I mean you may look at their web site (vendor) or you may not. I’ve been there.

I’d actually say great with the Chrome Extension of Percipio, where you can search by highlighting any word or words on the internet back into the platform. Executive – provides summary data for site and content engagement. Once you click it, it will popup with a window asking you to add your site link and then you log-in. You can also schedule a demo with them in FindAnLMS and send them an RFP.

Over 90% of LMS vendors had their sites available only in English; so the potential customer could not view it in any other language. A surprisingly number of vendors who offer some form of social learning, whether it is the minimum – a FB like page, micro-blog, even some form of app sharing or collaborative tool, do not have any social media on their site. No social networking sites, no social bookmark sites, no app sharing sites, no video sharing, nothing.

Skinning your site. One vendor showed me a RFP form a large metropolitan school district that was 25 pages long, had lots of text on one side with comments and questions. Another vendor showed me a school district whose RFP was 36 pages in length. When I see a Moodle site for a school or school district, I rarely see one that looks fun to use and modern. Back in the 90’s I taught high school and loved it.
