Excluding the obvious authoring tools and some LMS vendors, I found these themes with numerous vendors attending the expo: Remediation – as in our product increases retention better than a LMS. There seems to be a lot of vendors at DevLearn (and I saw it at ICE too) whose product is the anti-LMS. Blame it on the LMS.

No, but then again, this is an issue with many course providers including Lynda.com and Skillsoft. . They have partnerships with a few LMS vendors whereas you can purchase their courses via that LMS. I am aware of at least one vendor who includes five courses at no additional charge into their LMS. Unicorn Training.

You work online via the servers of your vendor. I had thought that this trend would be dying out, but it is amazing at the number of vendors who are entering the space and still focused on the desktop approach. Vendors who are already in the SaaS only space, should continue to offer features that maximize its power.

The name issue is confusing to the industry and the market for adoption. By 2008-2009, SCORM Version 1.2 What would they gain?
