Tool Set 2009

I thought I'd kick off this year by posting a series of posts on topics related to tools and methods for work and learning. I'm hoping to address questions such as: How do you create a personal tool set or Personal Learning Environment (PLE) for yourself? But I'm worried, because while I just got through writing about my concern in Using SharePoint that learning organizations seemed to be making the same mistake of Not Preparing Workers for Web 2.0.

One of the questions being raised this week in the free, online course Work Literacy: Web 2.0 for Learning Professionals is how social networks impact personal learning. To me, this is a critical part of The New Skills for knowledge workers. And what I often cite as the biggest change in knowledge work skills over the past 20 years is the change in access to people. And I just learned about ning for the first time yesterday!

And now, because of eLearning Learning , I have a much better way to track these things over a much more interesting content sets. For example, we see terms now at the top like Learning Management System , AICC , SCORM. This works across any subset of the content including sources, keywords and arbitrary searches.
