His requirements for a PLE Framework include: Personalization Social features Social filtering I ncorporate various Web 2.0 Flexibility and extensibility Web browser platform Aggregation/Mashups Ease of use Several thoughts jumped out at me: The concept of a Personal Learning Environment (PLE) exists, but actual PLEs only exist as theoretical combinations of skills, methods and tools. Luckily all of the requirements that Mohamed cites apply equally well to a PWLE.

Using SharePoint

The reality is that what we did on the Work Literacy course or what I did for my Collaborative Learning Course could easily be supported by the various types of web parts within SharePoint. Using SharePoint to Publish to Content to the Web Several training organizations were using SharePoint as a means of publishing web pages for public consumption. This is similar to support for courses and much of the web parts used, follow-up techniques, etc.

Knowledge Work Skills / Work Literacy Having realized in 2007 that there's a very important Knowledge Worker Skill Gap , I felt the need in 2008 to find ways to help knowledge workers and organizations build skills like Leveraging Networks , Network Feedback , Finding Expertise , Using Social Media to Find Answers to Questions , Learning through Conversation and searching, scanning, etc. It’s very powerful stuff and an important extension to my PWLE.

When I look at this from more the PWLE ( Personal WORK and learning environment ) perspective, I find that there are similar functions, but possibly a different mind set.
