The Learning Library BTW, has a few sections around Gen-AI, including comparisons between Claude and ChatGPT, ChatGPT Plus, and Claude Pro. One Learning System vendor told me they hired a consultant to provide them with a recommendation for the LLM they should use. Thought Industries is one such vendor.

I often mention leasing a car when talking about a learning system. When you “buy” a learning system, you are actually leasing it. Sure, there are some vendors who will sell you the system outright, but then you either pay extra for the updates or you just have a system that never gets updated.

Some vendors won’t use SCORM because it takes time to add and implement it. The idea was that you have content in SCORM and add it to your learning system that accepts SCORM, and tada, it works without any problems or issues. But the behemoth, the big elephant in the room, learning systems are not fans of trials. In the early 2000’s right up to about 2012, trials were common in the learning system market. Based on some exploration, it is clear to me they have a couple of routes to go in terms of the system. I’m not seeing that. I base it on a couple of observations notably that the person who runs learning products for Amazon comes from a learning system that is a content curator.

That said, I will say to you, that before you just buy the learning system, please, please do due diligence on the system. Just as some people love Nutella, others will find it on the same level of peanut butter mixed with bananas, which should be forbidden and outlawed in the solar system. A fun system for learners.
