Twitter for learning

Sticky Learning

Why wouldn't you use Twitter?! I've only been actively participating on Twitter for 4-5 months now. I tweet (as @stickylearning ) mainly about learning related topics and follow people who also have learning as their main focus. I'm also interested in how design thinking impacts upon learning and the use of visuals to communicate ideas and knowledge. Twitter keeps me current. Twitter makes me better at my job. on Twitter. 5 great speakers from the AITD conference - a summary of ideas

Sticky Learning

I'll give you a bit of a summary in this post and will provide a link to my Twitter feed for the conference, I think that will help to flesh out how I found some of the sessions! I write a blog, use Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn etc but what did I know about Social Media really? I use it a fair bit and speak with business clients about how they can use social media to promote learning, however to be honest I still feel like a newbie with much of this!

Later in the day I was working with some people who were not that efficient at using the web and wanted to show them what I regard as an essential web tool, del.icio.us , the social bookmarking application. I reached out to the laptop, not my own, to try to open up my del.icio.us I use the Bookmarks feature to put these in the order I want them in, and to shorten their names so I can squeeze more on.

Beware of Social Learning Backlash

eLearning Weekly

I’m finding out that the old adage, “You can lead a horse to water, but you can’t make him drink&# has some major significance when it comes to introducing social learning (specifically, social learning tools) at an organization. In fact, even worse things can happen if you don’t market your offerings correctly… When introducing social learning tools and concepts, it’s easy to get excited and anxious to share our findings.
