Types of Learning Systems

eLearning 24-7

The notion of types of personalities, aligns in some ways with types of systems, in that there is a lot of leeway in terms of what it actually means, with some folks saying this, when in fact it is that. . There is no better place to see this then our fine world of e-learning, which was devised to be an umbrella term for everything that is well, online learning. An LMS thus is under e-learning. e-learning. e-learning. Micro-learning platforms?

Digital Learning Platforms In, LXP out

eLearning 24-7

Another percent has never heard of an LXP and some people only are aware of a brand and thus refer to the systems under the guise of that brand. Thus, the segment of the learning system space has a branding issue, but within the LXP moniker, some people can recall a couple of systems, by name, not by type of solution. Learning Experiences. This only adds to the confusion of people wanting an LXP, which is referred to as a learning experience platform. .

Learning Experience Platform – WRONG

eLearning 24-7

I totally dislike the term, “learning experience platform” It really makes no sense, because anything and everything we do, can turn into a learning experience. I put together a tiny list (three) on learning experiences that I “learned” in just the last week: One of my dogs, Voodoo has “learned” that if he digs a deep hole he will find the gopher tunnel, because he hears them. Thus, a learning experience.

What is an LXP and why do I want one?

eLearning 24-7

Getting back to being unaware, I find the same issue with a few vendors in the learning system space who are really LXPs, but have no idea. Becoming similar to LMSs – overall that is, not everyone of them, but boy from a learning environment to administration to content curation they are getting quite close.

State of the Authoring Tool Industry

eLearning 24-7

Bewildered on what is happening, why what is needed isn’t appearing as it should, and how is it possible that something so obvious based on where e-learning is heading, mobile is pushing and future tech is inspiring is lost among so many vendors?
