Big publishers are having problems as the cost of distribution goes towards zero and as that brings along a ton of competition from the low end. But all major publications have limitations in that because of the cost, they have to go after large audiences and they need to stay at higher level topics. They can't afford to go into depth in niche areas because the costs would be too high for the return. Total cost: zero.

Reading the tea Leaves in my tabs: Our ecosystem is Commodified

The latest group of tabs to catch my eye include the following: Training Sites. OCW : . The first five sites commoditize training on a range of technical topics. The last group of sites are all tools that are designed to allow users to easily create mobile apps, including one which lets you do that on a mobile device itself. Do our publications and sites echo with design discussions? . I read my browser tabs like tea leaves I think.
