Cammy Beans Learning Visions: The Corporate Moodle: A Tipping Point?

Learning Visions

A ‘low-cost’ LMS starts at an average of $58K. That’s the low price. Because it’s open source, there are no licensing costs. If you want to do testing, use something that already links to a tool that feeds your Oracle or SAP behemoth. Our customers benefit from low-cost and self-management with no technical knowledge required. Cammy Beans Learning Visions Musings on eLearning, instructional design and other training stuff.

Customer Training Pricing and Packaging: What’s the Best Strategy?

Top 50 LMS Report for 2016 – What you need to know (criteria, approach, and yeah some vendors)

eLearning 24-7

I identify the Big Dogs as SumTotal by Skillsoft (yes, that is the actual name), Cornerstone OnDemand, Saba, SucessFactors and Oracle Taleo (although, I ask myself who is using this and if you still are why?). Oracle Taleo – Seriously, either overhaul this thing or dump it and torch it. I feel bad for the folks who were learn.com, then thought Taleo would improve it, then Oracle. And BTW, nearly every LMS can interface with Oracle products.

Perceptions and Factoids (LMS)

eLearning 24-7

While I do not know who WD will focus on in the market, my belief is that it will be SuccessFactors (an easy win), Cornerstone (mixed results), Oracle (victory!), SAP (if they can’t win this one, they shouldn’t be in the game), SumTotal Learn (mixed results – and how important – unknown) and to a very lesser degree Saba. The Low Price Scale Box. Some of the solutions that use this model start at a low number of users.

The 5 most common LMS complaints from end users

eLearning 24-7

“Yep, our system works all the time with Oracle.” 3 The system costs more than what they quoted me. They fail to mention that it will cost you X dollars per API and it will take six weeks to add one. Setup costs – and they can be anywhere from inexpensive to outrageous – even for systems that are low cost. You are failing to hear my words. You are not listening to me. This is not what you showed me.

eLearning 24-7

Costs and quality will vary. For vendors creating standalone apps for the masses on a variety of offerings or new product lines, costs will need to be significantly lower, otherwise it will not be successful. Costs will vary, again lower price points are needed. My take is that some systems with such features, perceive there is a market of those who are not interested in such solutions from Oracle, SAP, Peoplesoft, Lawson or Workday. Low cost.
