killer-startupsKiller Startups, a user driven startups community, recently interviewed ProProfs CEO and founder Sameer Bhatia, who told the story behind ProProfs and how it went from a low-cost quiz making tool to a multinational startup providing comprehensive online tools such as LMS software, online survey software and training software, which help instructors and educators create advanced online training and educational programs.

Our brand promise is simplicity. We look at how we can make the product simple enough for anyone to use with no prior training.

– Sameer Bhatia

The success story

Initially, ProProfs became very popular with teachers as a quizzing tool. The big break came when organizations started using ProProfs, and inquired for a paid feature with additional features like security, privacy & branding. That is when the company pivoted and created a new freemium version. Since then, there has been no looking back and today ProProfs is like the Youtube of quizzes, with over a million page views a day as well as a number of comprehensive online tools that provide a complete elearning solution.

The road ahead

There are a number of things in the pipeline such as a knowledgebase, which has already been developed and is undergoing usability tests. Mobile training and solutions are the focus and many customer acquisition channels are being added.
