He founded the computer-based course authoring tool Authorware in 1984 and later formed Macromedia through a merger which was then bought by Adobe Systems. I began research to study the ADDIE process we were using. Very seldom did people who designed and developed courseware feel satisfied with their products.

This is a great study and it raises a huge question. He has been a speaker at Macromedia/Adobe User Conventions, NASA and the East Coast Games Conference; and was the 2011 recipient of the Association for Educational Communications and Technology Immersive Learning Award. Going to school could become such a brand new thing.

Thankfully for us, ATD published a study reviewing the average time it took to create a single 1hr unit of competency for eLearning. The study reviews times from 2003, 2009, and 2017. The study found that: Traditional learning took 45 hours for a 1 hour unit of competency. In 2009, this jumped to 114 hours. Blended learning.

Learnnovators: You were part of many studies conducted to evaluate the effectiveness of e-learning to change behavior. Ironically, we’ve found their students can do it as part of their studies. It’s not that difficult.
