What’s hurting the LMS market

Revenues across the board are up, profit margins are healthy and competition is on-going (always a good thing). While this is a great concept for party decorations, it is not for a learning platform. Illogical – I often see systems that add features that seem as though they tossed a bunch of ideas on a wall and whatever stuck up there, went into their platform. True, people are selecting open source systems, and for the majority of them, it is Moodle.

Latest E-Learning Trends – Some good, some bad

A trend that is happening in the LMS market more so than in the other e-learning markets, is the failure to follow their path of success. If you as the customer want to create your own API/Mashup or find one on the net and want to integrate it into your paid LMS, the vendor will charge you. After all, if you can create a couple of APIs that provide strong social learning functionality, and the LMS vendor offers an add-on for social learning, do they really want you to put yours in?
