What is Microlearning?

Microlearning is a form of learning that involves short, focused bursts of information that can be consumed quickly and easily. It is a popular method for those who want to learn on the go and do not have time to sit through lengthy lectures or courses.

The Journey to Microlearning

In 2020, I was working as a licensed clinical social worker in a community mental healthcare agency, where I often felt emotionally, mentally, and financially drained. I realized that I needed an outlet for some creativity and fun at a time when the world felt dark – didn’t we all? That’s when I discovered TikTok, where I started creating funny videos! Some of my videos were about my dogs, some were about my quarantine antics, and a couple were related to my job as a therapist.

As I continued to learn more about the app’s trends and the needs of my audience, I watched my account grow consistently every week. I was thrilled to see my follower count jump by thousands and see steady engagement while teaching my audience about meaningful topics that gave them a benefit in their everyday life. Pretty soon, brands, partnerships, and potential clients started to notice me too.

Within just a few months of participating in consistent short-form learning trends, I was able to even grow my income to over double what I was making in my previous job. It was incredible to see the impact that social media could have on my life and career! I felt grateful for the opportunity to connect with so many people and to share my knowledge and creativity with them.

How to Use Microlearning to Build Your Digital Learning Business

Want to grow the same way I did? Here are some tips on how to use microlearning to build your digital learning business:

Answer Commonly Asked Questions

Create short-form content, such as TikToks or a 30-minute YouTube video, that answers commonly asked questions in your niche. You can even break up the content into smaller segments for easy consumption.

Tell Your Story

Share your story of how you got started in your niche. This can change everything for people who want to be where you are. Also, share relevant statistics and your opinions on those statistics.

Use a Trending Sound to Fit Your Niche

Use trending sounds on social media platforms such as TikTok and adapt them to fit your niche. This is a great way to succeed online.

Engage with Other Creators in Your Niche

React and engage with other creators in your niche. Stitching another creator’s video and live reacting to a sound in your niche are great ways to engage and go viral.

Break Down Longer Form Content into Smaller Segments

Take one big idea and break it down into multiple parts. This helps establish your authority in the microlearning space and allows you to turn one idea into 100 or even 1000!

Repurposing Content: How to Keep Your Audience Engaged

The Value of Repetition in Content Creation

In the world of content creation, it’s common knowledge that consistency is key. But what happens when you run out of ideas? Is it okay to repurpose old content, or will your audience get bored?

Repurposing content is not only acceptable, but it can also be a powerful tool for engaging your audience. The people who followed you originally for that content are probably going to be okay with some of that repeating itself – they want your fresh take on it all!

Adding a Fresh Spin to Old Content

There are ways to keep your content fresh and current, even if you’re reusing old ideas. By following current trends or advertising your content in different ways, you can keep your audience on their toes and make them feel like they’re getting fresh, new information.

The Benefits of Repetition for Building Authority

Repeating the same information can actually be beneficial for building your authority and earning your audience’s trust. You need to see content between four and seven times from the same creator before you’re going to commit and make that next step of action. By adapting each piece of content slightly, you can reinforce your expertise while also making your audience comfortable with your online presence (and not waste any time!).

The Importance of Consistency in Content Creation

Ultimately, whether you’re repurposing old content or creating new content from scratch, the most important thing is to stay consistent. This can be hard for creators, this is why the Thinkific Accelerator exists, which offers a year of creator educator training to help you start, build, launch, and scale your business without a steep learning curve.

Whether you’re just starting out or you’ve been creating content for years, the key to success is to keep showing up, providing value to your audience, and adapting to changing trends and technologies. With these strategies in mind, you can repurpose old content, build your authority, and keep your audience engaged for years to come.
