As part of the RFP process, we got to travel to a real nuclear powerplant and learn about how they train employees. You can see all the presentations by clicking on this link. On Thursday students presented their solutions to a fictitious proposal for an energy company called Odyssey Energy.

Just as driving to the video rental store to get a movie has been replaced with Netflix, Hulu, Amazon, and other streaming movie providers, business software now resides firmly in the cloud. If it does show up, the organization is likely using an RFP template from the disco era. Installed software was hot.

Just asking to recommend an LMS without the audience knowing exactly what you want is like following the mantra of saying can you recommend me a movie to go see, without telling people you hate dramas, comedies and documentaries. Yet, as I have often noted, it is rarely pushed upon in an RFP, let alone a demo.

As the character Howard Beale said in the movie Network, “WE’RE MAD AS HELL AND WE’RE NOT GOING TO TAKE IT ANYMORE.” Evaluate the system against your use case(s) not just an RFP response or demo. Yes, Intellum can crank out an RFP response if that’s what you require (and you’ll find a wealth of info in that link).

We are about to see a movie that we have been waiting for to come out. Vendors tend not to share that info, unless it is in an RFP and even then, I’ve seen plenty who say, “All”, really? Any movie you find on Amazon Prime, Netflix or Hulu where it looks like a bad B-movie, will meet your low expectations.

It is the NFL, the end of baseball and the realization that you can now watch all the violent movies you want, while the kids are at school. Well, you missed a fine movie. It’s funny because in my LMS RFP template (a new version will appear with my report), vendors who I know do not have a modern UI will state they do.
