History of the LMS

We did Online Learning in the 60’s – False Narrative There were systems back in the day, where they could be run on your own server, used via a CD-ROM, via WAN or LAN, but to me, that isn’t and e-learning LMS. I used it in 1999, to teach a 100% online journalism course in the University of Nebraska system.

And not only do they provide the “course marketplace or content marketplace”, but they are adding content for free, to when you buy the LMS or other type of learning system. If one was to look at the e-learning industry (online learning), learning systems make up the biggest share of the space. Who remembers NetG?

Skillsoft – An Analyst Perspective

Not uncommon with some companies that own two different learning system brands if you will, but in this case, it seemed that SumTotal was the driver and Skillsoft the secondary. . It was never noted during that rollout that Pericipo wouldn’t follow a “standalone” approach when it came to selling the system.

Content – Change the Narrative

Too many times I find that when talking about content, 3rd party content providers, content driven strategies from learning system vendors (which is quite hot) and marketplaces place more of a general approach to buying and pushing it. If your learning system provider offers content, take a look at it. The Grocery Store. Brand Names.
