PWLE Not PLE - Knowledge Work Not Separate from Learning

Flexibility and extensibility Web browser platform Aggregation/Mashups Ease of use Several thoughts jumped out at me: The concept of a Personal Learning Environment (PLE) exists, but actual PLEs only exist as theoretical combinations of skills, methods and tools. There will be Social Network Operating Systems that will allow us to pull together our highly personal environment. Luckily all of the requirements that Mohamed cites apply equally well to a PWLE.

PLE - PWLE Discussion Contiunes - Corporate vs Personal and IP Rights

Tony Karrer

The enterprise provides tools to employees that they can use as part of the PWLE. I could understand an argument that it would be preferable for individuals to be able to use the same tools outside the corporation for personal interests - but I don't see his argument that it is no longer a PLE or PWLE. We've spent centuries studying this and we spend years teaching people these skills in schools. Thus, there's no separation between a PLE and a PWLE.

Knowledge Work Skills / Work Literacy Having realized in 2007 that there's a very important Knowledge Worker Skill Gap , I felt the need in 2008 to find ways to help knowledge workers and organizations build skills like Leveraging Networks , Network Feedback , Finding Expertise , Using Social Media to Find Answers to Questions , Learning through Conversation and searching, scanning, etc. I’m convinced that we are all struggling to have our Work Skills Keep Up.

130) Work Skills (26) PWLE (16) Flash Quiz (8) Knowledge Work (40) That's a pretty fair representation of topics that I talk about. When you look at the keywords on the left you see things like: Social Learning (356) Social Media (411) Twitter (725) Google Wave (22) Camtasia (76) Adobe Captivate (71) Social Network (460) Now, the content set in this case are highly skewed towards innovators as compared to the topic sets being used by my past analysis (training conferences).
