A few vendors say “social learning” but it is often far from it. AICC, SCORM and PENS support. I’m always amazed at some of the names vendors come up with for authoring tools. and customized player. Well besides my rankings of course, think about this: 1st vendor to offer collaboration and peer review.

Yes there are vendors doing some new stuff, okay many, but a few items are not new, rather they have been around for a long time. SaaS boost – Finally more vendors are on the appropriate path for their consumers; but the big folks are not – why? There I said it and honestly I can’t believe I said it. Want a stunner?

When you see many of these awards from organizations – the general mass of them (but not all of them) require the vendor/company to submit an application for whatever category or categories. There is never any pay for play here – even my vendor clients are aware that they may not win best of the best. An additional note.

While it is true that there are vendors who are pure online proctoring solutions, it would seem to me, that having it as part of a learning management or platform is a better route then just a self-contained OP solution. Most tend to be proprietary, but I have seen a few that are SCORM/AICC and yes even PENS. Bottom Line.
