I've been taking a look at an early version of RapideL's new online e-learning authoring tool, which they are calling RapideL-i. I've previously experimented with their desktop tool, RapideL Enhance, which works with Microsoft Word to generate Flash-based courses, but this is a big step forward.

Online authoring tools not so novel

My prediction was that in 2008 we'd see more online rapid e-learning authoring environments come onto the market and the reason I claimed that this prediction was on target was because of the announcements by established authoring tool vendors of two very promising new online products, Unison from Rapid Intake and RapideL-i.

One of these was: "We'll see more online rapid e-learning authoring environments come on the market, perhaps even open source." These products will provide further competition for two online rapid e-learning authoring tools which have already achieved good success, particularly in Europe, and that's Atlantic Link and Mohive.

Applications you install on you computer (all those mentioned above except Atlantic Link) as opposed to online services (Atlantic Link, Mohive , Alto ). Of course, all authoring tools have always described themselves as quick and easy to use, with absolutely no programming required, but of course we know otherwise.
