DevCorner: Outside the Eye – Where App Innovation and Creativity Meet

At TechSmith, we are passionate about creating great software and keeping up with the latest technology. They also allow you to explore new technology before it might be ready to be integrated into our TechSmith apps. It allows you to open a web page or document with chords and lyrics on your phone and record yourself with the camera or microphone as you play through the song. I have been writing programs since High School. It’s open source and available on GitHub.

DevCorner: Seam Carving for Content-Aware Image Re-Sizing

Once a year, TechSmith holds an internal developer conference for the devs to talk about various interests they have. I wanted to implement a proof-of-concept program using vanilla C++ and an open source image library ( png++ , a C++ implementation of libpng ). The approaching conference provided much needed motivation to pursue something I’d always wanted to write. In fact, a recent TechSmith study of video viewing habits showed that more than 25% of video viewers watched a video all the way through because the audio was good — more than those who said professional video style was most important. My favorites are Audacity , a free open-source software that’s easy to use and produces solid audio, and Adobe Audition CC , which comes bundled with the Adobe Creative Suite.
