It has been good to see the varied interest in the 10 Tools Challenge both on my blog and Twitter as well as on other social channels – so here are a few updates. 2 – I have noticed that whereas some people have already chosen the 10 tools they will be taking a look at, others have still to do so. users of the eFront Enterprise Edition have a very powerful tool in their hands – a Xapian-based file indexer that allows for searching through files’ contents. Install poppler-utils, which will provide us with pdf manipulation tools. We now need to install unoconv which is dependent on OpenOffice or LibreOffice.

I actually manually typed the numbers into OpenOffice Calc (after scanning the list of posts in my WordPress dashboard for posts with a decent amount of comments). AideRSS is a tool that lets you filter a feed for the “best&# posts. This is task 18 in the comment challenge. It doesn’t go back far enough in your history.

Should we be supporting OpenOffice? Until eLearning vendors bite the bullet, come to real standards on formats, and then the tools and structure can build up to support those standards, eLearning is never going to be what it can be. It was hard to choose a tool because you didn't know quite what you were eventually going to do with it.
