The boards can identify what colour pen the teacher is holding, and can also sense for example, when someone has walked into the room (whereupon it automatically readies itself for use). However, picking up the red pen and then replacing it in the black pen socket didn't help matters. The colours of the pens on earlier versions were not as important as the place you located them. A pen placed in the black pen socket printed black no matter what colour it was.

Teaching and learning through dialogue

Dr Ken Gale did this using nothing more than a whiteboard and pen, along with constant discussion and questioning. For me this was a skillful, but relaxed and unobtrusive kind of pedagogy, involving every student in the room, debating, deliberating and generally exploring together the nuances and intricacies of our subject. conversation dialogue discussion Dr Ken Gale education learning Learning with ''e''s pedagogy socratic discourse

#40years of educational technology: Computers

Learning with 'e's

Pedagogy and technology are in a symbiotic relationship, and I have been privileged to witness its development first hand over the last 40 years. All of my illustrations were hand drawn, usually in black ink with Rotring art pens , using manual techniques to separate out colours, which all had to be printed separately in individual runs. The entire e-learning pedagogy starts with making learning easier for users and corporate institutions have realized it. E-learning has become a part and parcel of our lives.

It's not really learning anymore

It wasn't her fault though - it was rather a distinct lack of wifi connectivity and technology failure on my part that made me resort for the first time in ages to taking notes with - shock horror - a pen and paper! Well, at least I discovered that I can still write with a pen, albeit a lot slower than I remember doing when I was an undergrad.

Individual and Team-based Critical Thinking Skills in the eLearning Environment

eFront

Current pedagogy and andragogy research and practices are rife with critical thinking strategies in the learning environment. Hisham Al-Mubaid of University of Houston, penned a paper titled ‘A New Method for Promoting Critical Thinking in Online Education’ in which he discusses an effective method of embedding critical thinking strategies for developing higher order reasoning skills in the eLearning environment.

What's different about mobile learning?

The Learning Circuits

Although a mobile pedagogy will continue to evolve, we already know quite a bit about how people use mobile devices and some of the advantages of mobile learning. The gestural UI removes the intermediary device (mouse, pen, etc.) As the doors open to a new era of mobile learning and performance support, it's a good time to step back and think about the new mindset required when designing for mobile.

TechSmith Camtasia

She penned a guest post on our blog about flipped professional development earlier this year. So instead of spending our time showing teachers how to use various technology tools, we created short video tutorials for this purpose and instead spent our time with teachers working on deeper learning designing projects with appropriate pedagogy and technology tools and based on teacher skill and interest. We’re SO excited for ISTE 2013 !

Story about Technology in Schools Misses the Point

Corporate eLearning Strategies and Development

And not one word mentioned about pedagogy. Johnny: I used the pen with blue ink instead of the #2 pencil. - Why does the conversation always end up of being either/or when it comes to technology in the classroom? I see "news" stories about schools with technology and schools without technology all the time. If this is still an important story to viewers then I wish news stations would get the story right. I mean seriously! Is this story STILL about BOOKS vs. LAPTOPS ?

Freinet and social media

Here are five of his then radical methods placed into the context of social media: 1) The Pedagogy or Work. This would be an extension of the pen pal method used many years ago, where schools paired students with those in other schools. When I wrote Blogging with Freire , I was speculating on what that great Brazilian educator and theorist might have made of educational blogging - a concept he never knew, because he died before the Internet and social media came in to common use.

Second,to follow from Marshall McLuhan the Medium is the Pedagogy (first coined by Cousin (2005). New tools give rise to new ways to teach and learn and these are guided by our understanding of teaching and learning pedagogy. Thus, educators need to experiment with new pedagogies and see how older approaches to teaching can be adopted to take advantage of the affordances of new media.
