Other research has shown that pro-social games—games where the player is helping others—have a positive influence on pro-social behavior.

In my grouping, I interspersed it with historical references that are not tied to our industry for the purpose of just doing it. Articulate and the person whose idea recognized that rapid course authoring was the way to go, establishing a considerable market even today, deserved huge kudos and a lot of money—probably got a pen.

They so buy into it, as the best way to learn X or Y, that there is a movement to add synchronous-based learning, back in the day, we referred to SBL as sticking the classroom teaching method online. You may have been someone who tried out a pen because others went to the pen side. That is definitely not changing.

Here’s a game that uses a similar technique to make the players develop their own story through an open-ended narrative which went on to bag several awards. Her Story is a crime fiction game where the player will be browsing through recorded video clips from 7 separate interviews of a woman (Hannah Smith) whose husband has been missing.

CMI-5 is the new player in town (I’ll get to that in a bit). But SCORM is still a dominant player out there and to assume that it is resting in a nice funeral plot or will be, I think is jumping way ahead. But PENS faces those same challenges as the demise of SCORM as related to buy-in. I have mixed feelings on SCORM.
