Significant performance upgrades bring your LearnDash powered courses a best-in-class user experience.

I am thrilled to announce the next step in the progression of LearnDash in the form of Version 3.4!

While releasing cool new functionality is always fun, the focus on this release is more “under the hood” and will arguably have the most direct impact on your learning programs!

Specifically, LearnDash v3.4 pushes forward with huge performance improvements to minimize load time and maximize efficiency. I will keep this at a high-level, but stick with me for a moment as it is about to get a little “geeky”.

In the previous version (v3.3) there was an average of 515 queries to the database, as shown below.

In LearnDash v3.4 this gets reduced to just 19 queries! A huge savings to say the least!

So what does this mean for your LearnDash courses?

Less queries helps the performance of your site as a whole by reducing the time needed to query different rows in your database. In turn, this can help considerably on large sites.

For example, using the old version of LearnDash meant that if you had 10 active users, 5,150 queries were being made.

Today in LearnDash v3.4, those same 10 active users would bring that query count down to only 190, a 96.31% savings on resources!

You (and your learners) will notice this improvement immidately, creating an improved experience for your courses.

Quizzing updates & adaptive learning are in the works.

The new performance improvements are just the first step towards a future where we can introduce exciting new course progression features (adaptive learning anyone?). With these “under the hood” updates implemented, we now are able to build upon a rock-solid foundation for this exciting new capability. 🙂

In addition, keep an eye out for future updates where we will be making improvements (and adding highly requested features) to quizzes!
