Tony Karrer

Thus, my opinion is: Twitter is not a tool for people who are new to social media and the use of social media for personal learning and work. Twitter is Okay, But Not Primary For a person who is already more into social media and what their experience might be take a quick look at Brett Miller's recent post 10 days of Twitter. There are certainly powerful examples in Twitter Collaboration Stories and Twitter for Learning.

PKM is our part of the social learning contract

Jane Hart

Yesterday, Harold Jarche shared the image on the right, in his post To learn, we must do. Whereas most people are concerning themselves with the new social and collaboration technologies, or how to get people to collaborate, for me the key to successful social learning is how the individual engages in his/her networks and contributes what s/he has learned or is learning along the way. Tool Set 2009

Tony Karrer

I thought I'd kick off this year by posting a series of posts on topics related to tools and methods for work and learning. I'm hoping to address questions such as: How do you create a personal tool set or Personal Learning Environment (PLE) for yourself? But I'm worried, because while I just got through writing about my concern in Using SharePoint that learning organizations seemed to be making the same mistake of Not Preparing Workers for Web 2.0.

I just got through reading Jay's post and article (with Clark Quinn) around Become a chief meta-learning officer – one of the hot list items from two weeks ago. CLOs will neither prosper nor even survive if they fail to take responsibility for the overall learning process within their organizations. Personal in Personal Knowledge Management

Isn’t that what we’ve learned there isn’t ? It’s a pick-and-choose sort of thing: the way we manage information has a lot to do with the information, and a lot to do with who we are and what we want the information for … Harold responded with Other PKM processes where he shows some other models and states: To be clear, my intention is to show what works for me and perhaps some part of this may work others. In fact, Work Literacy is pretty much this topic.

Conversation Learning

Clark Quinn

One of the questions being raised this week in the free, online course Work Literacy: Web 2.0 for Learning Professionals is how social networks impact personal learning. To me, this is a critical part of The New Skills for knowledge workers. And what I often cite as the biggest change in knowledge work skills over the past 20 years is the change in access to people. And I just learned about ning for the first time yesterday!

100 Conversation Topics

Tony Karrer

Almost every time I have a conversation, I learn something new. Most of the time I learn something, I write a blog post. But I don't have nearly enough time to have conversations, learn and write blog posts. And since I'm sure I'd learn something, I'd likely write up a post about it. Also please include terms and a link that will help it get put into appropriate categories in the eLearning Learning Community. What we've learned so far?

And now, because of eLearning Learning , I have a much better way to track these things over a much more interesting content sets. Network Feedback

The Learning Circuits

This month's question comes out of part of the dialog that occur during the recent Work Literacy course. While discussing social networking for personal learning, the question came up around being able to reach out and get help from people or find expertise in the form of a person / conversation. I've got a question about a work task and would like to get feedback from someone (a person, hopefully with some level of experience and expertise on the topic).
