I wouldn’t call it pondering rather I would call it a huge misnomer in the entire authoring tool industry, course development industry – with vendors here – when it comes to course standards. I’ve even seen it with LMS vendors. There are LMS vendors who no longer accept AICC. More than a few LMS vendors adding AICC as their latest standard. Vendor buy-in.

You could use any of the many authoring tools, such as Authorware, but you needed an appropriate player. With the advent of Flash, many authoring tools started creating output that could be played by the Flash player, which meant you didn’t need special software to use the courses (if your IT org would support you having it). What is SCORM & Decoding Its Importance For eLearning

ProProfs

SCORM is an acronym that stands for “Sharable Content Object Reference Model”. comparison of a system that focuses on SMB vs another that is SMB, rather than SMB vs. 50,000+ employees; equally, someone focusing only on B2B/B2C should be compared to other vendors only focused on B2B/B2C and not say comparing an internal only system to one that is B2B/B2C, because there will be some functionality differentials). If the vendor did HE and Corporate, I looked only at corporate. Reminds me of Real Player – are they making a comeback?) Here it begins.

A big expo with several LMS vendors along with a few HR focused vendors who had a “learning component” to their systems. For folks who use their product, I was told by a salesperson that xAPI is not on their radar, nor is any type of on/off synch mobile app. . They do not have on their radar, xAPI nor on/off synch for mobile – I was told the usual garbage line that their customers haven’t asked for it, nor have people reaching out to them.
