One reason PowerPoint isn't the first program people think of for Infographics is that infographics are traditionally not the same size as a PowerPoint slide. You can actually change the slide size pretty easily from within PowerPoint by choosing Design > Page Setup > Page Setup. Avoid Empty Spaces.

One way to be smart about using text is to have it slide in when you want it and slide out when you are done. In this example, I added a transparent PNG image. In PowerPoint-driven tools like Articulate, take advantage of the master slide templates to reduce. As I built the slides, I wrote the slide number by each node of the flowchart for future reference. To produce the slides and SWF, I used Keynote 08 ( not Keynote 09! ). Keynote is a slide editor for the Mac. There are no variables involved. Please share your tips in the comments.

There is even basic layer management that can be used through the “Selection Pane” that comes in handy on a busy slide. It’s even possible to save as a PNG with a transparent background. All this editing power would be useless if you couldn’t export your changes out of PowerPoint.

Import slides to iPhoto by choosing File> Send to > iPhoto. Note: You have a choice of either JPEG or PNG from the Format drop-down menu. If you were posting images to the internet it might be in your best interest to choose PNG. The iPhoto window opens with your imported slides. Quit iPhoto.
