Not All PNG Compressors Are Created Equal. Here's two versions of a Jing logo from one of our press releases. If the PNG compressor doesn't optimize color depth, or uses non-aggressive DEFLATE compression it can produce PNG's that are up to 90% bloat. Optimizing the PNG's in the Camtasia Relay PC recorder resulted in a ~7% (302KB) file-size reduction. Keep in mind that the Relay recorders are relatively small apps and use a relatively small number of PNG's.

Perhaps this is because older versions of PowerPoint (2003 or below) didn’t have as many graphic editing options as never versions (2007 or higher). However, newer versions add more abilities and previously hard-to-find options are more prominent. It’s even possible to save as a PNG with a transparent background. By Joseph Suarez. Instead of the plain gray screen shown above, I want my learners to see the image below (I created the image with an image-editing program and saved it as a PNG.). In older versions of Captivate, you could control the initial screen seen by learners by selecting or deselecting Auto Play. In recent versions of Captivate (2017 and 2019), Auto Play cannot be disabled, even if you deselect Auto Play. by Kevin Siegel, COTP , CTT.

The Back Story: In the previous versions of Adobe Captivate such as 7, 8, and 9 (before updating to version 9.0.2.437) the individual loose files such as png, smartshapes, and text captions from the project’s HTML5 output were stored in the dr folder. In more recent versions of Adobe Captivate such as 2017 and 2019, the images are now stored inside of JSON files. Also, there is the main imgmd file that stores png files, text captions, smartshapes, and etc.

Hello, In both versions of Cap 2017 and 2019, I’m having an issue where I’ve got a small png file, 75 kb, that I’m using as the retry message fill when someone gets a quiz question wrong. Sometimes, when I open the custom image option and select the file to use, it actually creates a new file version – it adds (2), (3), an so on – for the file name and then increases the image size to 1344kb!

The newest version of PowerPoint has a “Convert to Shape” feature. If you don’t see it in your version of PowerPoint, you’ll need to upgrade to the Office 365 version. I like to save as a PNG file so that the transparent part of the image remains transparent. The good news is that now you can edit SVG images in PowerPoint. And that’s a big deal because we’re starting to see more SVG images every day.

I usually save in PNG format. You can see that I created a couple of versions. I opted for the lighter version because it made the Rise screen seem more open with more white space. In a previous post, I shared how I built an interactive scenario in Rise. I’ve gotten lots of emails asking how I built the graphics like the headers and the flashcard interactions for the interactive scenario.

My solution was similar, though I used a large page-sized PNG with a window cut in it. While the effect I got with the PNG overlay looked good, using an Event Video without a skin resulted in a couple of issues that needed to be addressed: the video automatically played when entering a Captivate slide and without a skin there were no playback controls. I really enjoyed creating the original proposal for my client, and this version, as well. Click to Play Project.

This is an issue I run into quite a bit because I get some of my graphics from those low cost (or free) stock image sites and often they only provide a.PNG version of the file. Many of the illustrations you purchase will be in one of these formats: EPS,AI,PNG, or.JPG. The image above shows the before after versions.
