Even in winter an isolated patch of snow has a special quality. —Andy Goldsworthy
We spent our Spring Break in Colorado this week, skiing and trying to navigate the bombogenesis (aka bomb cyclone) that hit us. I was reminded how valuable expert insights can be after taking my first ski lesson ever and seeing the improvement it made over my own self-taught approach. Here is this week’s cyclone of the best from learning, design, and technology. Cheers!
Burn your training request form
Cathy Moore (@CatMoore) does it again with this post that looks at what most training request forms say. “My job is to produce whatever training you want, whether or not it will actually work.” Head over and see what she has to say about getting beyond being a worker in a course factory.

Zoom In Filters for High Impact
Small moves, smartly made, can set big things in motion. That’s a key to succeeding in a world of mounting performance pressure. Transformation suggests that we need really big moves. John Hagel (@jhagel) warns us to resist that temptation. Instead, focus on identifying the small moves that, if smartly made, can set big things in motion. The same concept applies to us individually as well.

Seeing 90-9-1 As a Math Equation to Solve
Speaking of small things over time having a big impact, this post by Mark Britz (@britz) resonates with me rather loudly. He says to “.. put 90% of your time and energy towards moving that 9% and far less effort towards the majority. The 90 will come along or move on so don’t waste time pushing or convincing”. Go where they are, use social proof and inform without cajoling. Amen!
