A marginally better new product is not going to do anything in the market.

The link led me to a slideshow on user adoption of SharePoint. Summative evaluation "provides information on the product's efficacy ( it's ability to do what it was designed to do)." Despite what vendors tell you, none of the tools are so intuitive that people can be expected to use them without some support and training.

I couldn’t care less whom these vendors have as a clients. The vendors as a whole, not just the 75, will always show big names. Unless you ask are you exclusive which means “the only learning system” at the company, association, etc – the vendors won’t cover that, while showing you the clients.

But one of the biggest problems I see at such shows are the number of vendors who in hindsight I wished I avoided. Kevin Oakes sounded the bell in Kevin Oakes on the Rise and Fall of the LMS as large LMS vendors began to move towards Talent Management. Mzinga certainly is way better as a product that my dire prediction. Does a Learner WANT an LMS?

My contention (as expressed in LMS and Social Learning ) is that most of the vendors are getting this wrong. This could be: SharePoint, Yammer, Confluence, etc. If an organization has SharePoint and InGenius, my preference would be that social interaction occurs in SharePoint. InGenius should integrate into SharePoint.
