This is a growing market with new vendors showing up, but at the same time, others disappearing.

The next generation of authoring tools included a handful of really serious players, notably Authorware (now with Adobe) and Toolbook (now with SumTotal), both still going although not so strongly. Of course, all authoring tools have always described themselves as quick and easy to use, with absolutely no programming required, but of course we know otherwise. I was one of the few in my program that had media production, programming, graphics design, and web skills. One of my peers who had TONS more technical skills than I had left the program to DO stuff. Making much of what is taught in ISD programs today unnecessary. Actually they have become more like history programs.
